Bangladesh Bank instructed to keep enough money in ATM booth during Eid holidays
Eid-ul-Adha, one of the main religious festivals of the Muslim community, will be celebrated in Bangladesh next Monday, June 17. On this occasion, Bangladesh Bank has ordered enough money in the ATM booths during the holidays before and after Eid. Besides, instructions have been given to ensure uninterrupted transactions with all digital services, point of sale (POS), e-payment gateways, mobile financial services.
On Tuesday, June 11, Bangladesh Bank's Payment Systems Department issued this instruction and sent it to the Executive Directors and Chief Executives of all scheduled banks in the country.
Instructions have been given to ensure round-the-clock ATM service, rectification of technical faults in the booths at the earliest and vigilance of guards at the booths along with other security measures, the directive said. Banks have also been asked to take measures to ensure round-the-clock POS services, to make merchants and customers aware to prevent fraud.
Apart from this, instructions have been given to enable card-based 'Card Not Present' for e-payment gateways and 'Two Factor Authentication' for account transactions.
All banks and their associated companies providing mobile financial services like bKash, Rocket and Nagad have been asked to ensure uninterrupted transactions. In this case, the transaction information of any number should be informed to the customer through SMS alert service.
Banks have been instructed to take special measures to ensure that customers are not harassed in any way in these transactions.
